Regular guests for over 10 years, never fails to impress with the warm welcome, the high standard of the lodges, the extras that are included, the owners go out if their way to provide everything you could think of to ensure stay the best! Always feel so sad to leave but always chilled out from our time there. We will definitely be back without a doubt! Thank you for another fabulous week!
Mingarry is a little paradise on Ardnamurchan! We enjoyed our stay so much. The lodges are so comfortable, didn´t miss anything. Jayne and Andrew are so lovely hosts and we will looking forward to see them again next year!
Tooting Lode is outstanding as it is perfectly clean and well appointed. Nothing could be too much for Jayne. The area is particularly good for wildlife and has an amazing range of nearby places of interest with great walking, ancient woodlands, sandy beaches and much open moorland. The contrast between Loch Moidart and Loch Sunart was fascinating.
We spent a lot of time watching the animals and birds seen by the local cameras on the television, better than the usual TV fare. We also found the local Cafe Tioram was excellent.
Peaceful and relaxing stay in the lodge in the woods surrounded by birds, ideal for nature lovers. The bed was comfy and the kitchen well equipped so it was easy to self cater. There is an excellent village shop a short drive away and some good places to eat out as well. We enjoyed walking and sea kayaking nearby, it is a fantastic part of Scotland to visit.
Having arrived just an hour before Storm Amy with it's high winds and driving rain we can honestly say that our welcome and care was second to none. We have stayed here several times over the years and each visit has confirmed our enjoyment of the area and it's wildlife from our base in these comfortable lodges. Thank you again Jayne and Andrew
I loved my week in Hooting Lodge. It's a beautiful lodge and I was made to feel very welcome. In the aftermath of Storm Amy Jayne made sure everything was okay. And of course Ardnamurchan is a wonderful place with lots of wildlife. Thanks for a lovely stay. I'll definitely be back.
Both myself and the friend who I stayed with at Hooting Lodge could not have been more delighted with the lodge itself or impressed with Jayne as our hostess for the week. Owing to travel times we arrived early and in some very wet weather. Not only was the lodge completely ready for us to go in to (1.5 hours earlier than the advised check-in time), but Jayne provided a wet weather hat (mine was packed away) for when moving our bags into the lodge! As we were settling in we realised that a generous and very thought-through starter pack had been provided for us, more than we would have thought to bring along for ourselves - this was very well received. Everything in the lodge was of high quality; high-end bedding, Egyptian cotton linen and towels through to the range of games, OS maps supplied (covering the whole area and beyond), books, kitchen utensils and all equipment provided. Comprehensive information was given on the local area, various attractions and information about local places and wildlife. Every appliance came with a thorough, but easy to understand, set of operating instructions. Finally, and as a real bonus, Jayne and Andrew showed us how to use the installed CCTV cameras to capture footage of wildlife coming to the feeding station on the lodge's verandah. Thanks to this we were able to watch a Pine Marten and badger(s) coming to feed on several occasions, not to mention various birds and red squirrels which we watched in realtime. This really added an element of fascination and joy to what was already a superb stay. Thank you Jayne and Andrew for being such good hosts to us and for introducing us to something of which we knew very little but that we enjoyed discovering something more about whilst staying at Hooting Lodge. Jacqueline and Margo.
Hooting Lodge was a wonderful place to stay. If you love wildlife, you won't be disappointed. Superb.
The accommodation is clean, well maintained and the hosts welcoming and friendly. They give you a decent welcome food pack which other places that we have stayed in have not always provided. We stayed in Tooting Lodge for two weeks and at the beginning of the second week we were given another food pack which we thought was extremely decent of the hosts. We have never experienced that before. They have made their land into a wildlife oasis with various mammals and birds visiting both during the day and night. Cameras set up on the veranda and around the lodge mean that you can not only watch the wildlife in real time but also catch up on recordings of what goes on in the early hours of the night. An absolute delight! The best test of how good a place is is if you want to go back and we definately would.
This is one of the only places I would honest live to call my second home cso clean and views to die for
Tooting Lodge was by far the best self catering accommodation we have stayed in. It was clean, comfortable and had everything you could want.
If you are looking for a quiet location with beautiful scenery, walks and plenty of wildlife this place is perfect. Jayne was a friendly and helpful host
We think we have been 6 or 7 times now to these wonderful lodges, we first stayed in Tooting lodge so we have a bit of a soft spot for that one! Both lodges are immaculate, you don’t need to pack cleaning supplies for a trip here, Jayne is meticulous, it is so clean.
I cook various meals for my family whilst we visit and there’s nothing that the kitchen doesn’t have (apart from a slow cooker so I took my own) and extremely well equipped. A lovely welcome pack of milk, tea, coffee and cake is really appreciated.
This holiday we did: a small walk on Morar beach, walked to the end of the coast line and had a beach to ourselves.
A short walk in the woods at Strontian, beautiful trees and some of them have a delicious pine smell.
A longer walk to singing sands (Kentra) where we swam/played in the sea for hours. Shared by just 4 other people. (The walk is no more through forests :( , as they are returning peat bogs to the area)
A train ride from Lochailort to Mallaig, had a couple of hours there and loved the scenery out of the window.
A day on Fort William visiting family and friends.
Spent a few hours at the otter hide, didn’t see any
Wildlife spotting - on this trip we saw whales, seals, crabs, jellyfish, fish, badgers, pine martens, red squirrels, foxes, mice, shags, herons, cormorants plus loads more that I have probably forgotten!
The area where the lodges is has so many lovely places to visit very close by, typically we don’t travel more than 1-1.5 hours away whilst here. I would recommend Sanna Bay for a visit, it’s a long drive but a beautiful drive and gorgeous beach. And a boat ride from Mallaig to Eigg is a bargain day out, but you need to plan throughly with the timetable of the ferries.
We ate at Ardshealach Lodge, for our anniversary, second time we have been and the food is delicious. Not a huge menu, so if you’re fussy it might not be for you.. fresh ingredients, a lot grown on site, intimate setting, yum yum.
Thank you Jayne and Andrew again for accommodating us, you have created such a haven for people to enjoy. Thank you so very much for the opportunity to decompress after a busy summer, spending time in the highlands with my little family, away from crowds of people, is just what I need!
We look forward to coming back as soon as we can! Rachel, Ben, Edith and Tabitha xxx
The lodge is extremely comfortable, and well equipped. Well situated in woodland, and perfect for exploring the surrounding area. A very warm welcome from the hosts, and the welcome tray is a great and thoughtful touch.
Thanks Jayne and Andrew for a wonderful week.
Such an enjoyable stay at Tooting Lodge, there was everything and more that you could need for the perfect holiday.
The biggest information folder we have ever seen ! It was very useful. Seeing the variety of birds on the feeders was very entertaining and we loved the idea of wildlife cameras around the site and then ‘catching up’ on TV later, perfect.
A very comfy bed, cosy and snug bedroom and loved the open plan downstairs. Excellent accommodation all round with the added bonus of a drying room and porch for wet stuff. Set in a beautiful location just right for touring Ardnamurchan and the surrounding areas. You can see why people return again and again, Jayne and Andrew have thought about all those little touches that really make Mingarry Lodges your happy place, great base. Thoroughly recommend.
All the comforts of home with the added joy of abundant wildlife !
Jayne & Andrew have gone the extra mile to provide a memorable holiday experience.
The lodge is ideally situated to enjoy all that the peninsula had to offer.
Located in a perfect position for exploring this beautiful region of Scotland and close to the ferry to Tobamorry, the lodges are clean comfortable and well equipped (how many places will provide you with a food processor?).
Your hosts are close by and very helpful.
Wonderful local wildlife is to be found. During our stay we not only saw white tailed and golden eagles plus best of all Pine Martins and a many other birds.
Could hardly be bettered.
Like many other guests we look forward to a return visit.
Another fantastic week in Hooting Lodge. Jayne and Andrew are fabulous hosts and a mine of information on things to do in the area. The cabin is perfection - well equipped and so comfortable - and set in a beautiful woodland. Everything has been provided - cannot think of anything that could be improved. A wonderful, peaceful base from which to explore Ardnamurchan.
This was our second stay at Mingarry. We enjoyed our stay and found the lodge comfortable and convenient for local walks and local cycle rides. The area is very quiet and very interesting. The temperate rain forest and sea views are magnificent when viewed at walking pace or cycling pace.
Our fourth visit to Mingarry and Hooting Lodge, and once again, the attention to detail provided by Jayne & Andrew is mind blowing, anything you thought you may need and have brought with you, will be there already. All food supplies for the visiting wildlife is all supplied and clearly labelled, if you are interested in wildlife, this hidden gem is a visit not to be missed. Exceptional Location, Exceptional Accommodation, Exceptional Hosts.
We had a wonderful holiday at Hooting lodge. I have been to many self catering accommodation and this was the best by far. The owners have made sure there is everything you could possibly want to make your holiday wonderful . Location, cleanliness, wildlife, walks, beautiful scenery nearby.
